The Traditional Shirt in Indigo Soul (Short Sleeves)

Our Traditional Shirt with short sleeves is made from smooth organic cotton. Beautifully tailored, this shirt features coconut buttons for style, sustainability and a reminder of all things tropical. Our Indigo Soul fabric was dyed and discharge printed for us by a Bangalore printing studio using natural dyes and gum resins.

Colourway + design: The Traditional Shirt is inspired by the national clothing of Sri Lankan Sinhala boys, known colloquially when paired with a white saram (sarong) as ‘The National Suit’ – but in indigo blue😉. The motif the boteh (known in English as ‘paisley’), a globally-known motif originating from Persia, widely used in Kashmiri textiles since the 15^th century and later linked to the town of Paisley in Scotland.

Fabric: Organically cotton, discharge dyeing + printing method using natural gum resins

Made:  In India under fair trade working conditions

Care: Gentle machine wash cold using mild detergent. Do not soak (colours may bleed). Do not scrub. Line dry in shade.

* Please be aware that block printing does contain what some might consider ‘imperfections’. These are not faults, but sign of the human process by which the fabric was printed. We believe these slight differences give our items character and evidence the wonderfully human element present during their making.
