At Buddhika, we care about process, result and impact. All of our offerings are ethically made from organic cotton or organic linen. We honour ancient Asian methods of printing (many of our fabrics have been printed by hand using hand-carved wooden blocks or hand dyed), choose AZO-free eco-friendly, certified organic or natural dyes and honour traditional motifs as well as our own signature designs enlightened by Earth, art and culture. Each and every Buddhika piece is sewn to life through human expertise (and 99% are hand cut).
Our offerings are either made here in Australia (usually by us, but we may on occasion have help from skilled sewists) or by a small group of talented artisans in Lucknow, India, working in a genuinely respectful, fair trade environment where women are empowered and supported to learn new skills. We embrace sustainability and quality – small production numbers, wearable art and culture and comfortable-for-kids design rather than throw away trends. We do not focus on season-based collections, but instead try to create offerings that can be used across seasons. This helps to reduce the need for more clothes (and in turn reduces the demands on our planet when we create them), makes our offerings accessible to kids anywhere in the world regardless of climate and because this approach allows parents to plan ahead of seasons if necessary.
